Current Events
- Elections... If you or people in your area or HOA want to meet and discuss current/future topics related to the city, reach out to me to set up a time to visit. (email, phone call, or in person)
- The new water treatment facility is UP AND RUNNING! If you're on the north central water system you should no longer see discolored, sulfur smelling water. Though... for those of you not using a water softener, you'll still want to look into getting one.
- Many of you are familiar with the phrase "rural look and feel" or "rural character." Dayton residents have said this is important to them and I agree. It's even in our mission statement. We've had a couple work sessions on the topic and I believe it'll result in a list of ideas we will be prioritizing for the future. If you have ideas, please let me know.
Work Session (Long Term Plan)
This was another discussion on items in the long-term plan. We had already covered most of the plan previously, but this was sort of a confirmation of adjustments.
We also spent some time on the overall budget, and it looks like we’ll be able to continue to keep our tax rate the same, though I will be looking at options to knock it down some since I believe there’s still some fat in it.
Item K (Peddlers)
This was a change to the ordinance to bring the time when you can no longer go door to door selling from 8PM to 7PM. It also introduced a graduated penalty which is reflected in the updated fee schedule below. It was approved 5-0.
Item M (Arbor Ridge PUD, Preliminary, and final Plat)
This development used to be known as the “The Parkway Neighborhood” and was previously approved. Since the access to that development was still under negotiation with another developer, this development wasn’t able to move forward. At this point, that access negotiation is complete, and it looks like this development can again go forward, though the original approval timeout out and the timeframe of various phases of the development were changed... along with the name change. There were some questions as to the setbacks and a possible change to the road into the development as being a private road, but nothing concerning. It was approved 5-0.
Item N (Software)
This was to approve moving forward with a software package that handles a lot of the city’s finances. The current package is going obsolete. This package is the same company and similar software, but it’s remote based (which is very common now with software). It was approved 5-0.
Item O (Comp Plan)
This was to amend our current comp plan to show a more clarified sewer interceptor in SW Dayton. It was approved 5-0.
Item P (Fee Sched)
This was to adjust the bimonthly Minnesota fee for sewer from $1.62 to $2.54. It also implemented the graduated penalty for non-licensed peddling in item K. The penalty is as follows:
first violation $200.00, second violation $400.00, third violation $600.00
