Current Events

  • If you or people in your area want to meet and discuss current/future topics related to the city, reach out to me to set up a time to visit. (email, phone call, or in person)
  • As you're driving on the river road by Stephens' park, you'll notice construction on the south side of the road. That's the new central water system treatment facility in progress.
  • Many of you are familiar with the phrase "rural look and feel" or "rural character." Dayton residents have said this is important to them and I agree. It's even in our mission statement. We've had a couple work sessions on the topic and I believe it'll result in a list of ideas we will be prioritizing for the future. If you have ideas, please let me know.

Work Session (Threat Assessment)

This was a presentation on threat assessments and how to handle immediate threats. It wasn't tied to city business but it was something being offered by our police department and the council/staff attended.

Item J (South Diamond Lake Project)

South Diamond Lake will get a full mill and overlay this summer. This was to approve plan and specs for the project and to go out for bids. The estimate is about $1.4M. A mill and overlay will replace the top half of the pavement.

Item K (Goal Setting)

This was to complete the goal setting we started a couple of meetings ago. There was a LOT of discussion... and not much in the way of changes.

We did agree to look at doing large area plans in lieu of the traditional development. What I believe the outcome will be is better thought-out developments and better control of the volume of developments.
