- As you're driving on the river road by Stephens' park, you'll notice construction on the south side of the road. That's the new central water system treatment facility in progress.
- Many of you are familiar with the phrase "rural look and feel" or "rural character." Dayton residents have said this is important to them and I agree. It's even in our mission statement. We've had a couple work sessions on the topic and I believe it'll result in a list of ideas we will be prioritizing for the future. If you have ideas, please let me know.
Item K (TRPD Regional Trail)
This was a continued discussion with Three Rivers Park District (TRPD) about a trail system they're proposing along the north side of the river road. The main discussion was when and what properties TRPD would need to purchase in order to build a trail given that there may be some properties that can't support a trail in the current ROW. They listed 5 they felt they needed, however, upon further questioning it appeared they were backing off the intent to move the trail off the road even if they were allowed to purchase one of the properties.
Item L (TRPD permission to purchase property)
Given the previous item, TRPD requested permission to purchase one of the properties. A motion to approve was not made (indicating nobody wanted to make that motion) therefor permission was not granted.
Item M (Fire Fighters Pay Scale)
Currently the paid on call fire fighters make under $20 an hour. This was to approve a new pay structure that implemented steps (increases pay dependent on years) and centers on $28. This was approved 5-0.
Item N (Extrication Equipment)
This was to complete a tabled item from the last meeting. The request is to replace some of the extrication equipment used by the fire department instead of repairing it. This was approved 5-0.
Item P (Close Session)
This was to continue discussing negotiations with the supervisors union.
